What is Malleable Iron?

Malleable Iron, as a high-strength casting material, is composed of selected steel, metallic silicon, trace alloy elements, and necessary flow agents.

1.1. Chemical Composition Standards

Its chemical composition standards include carbon content between 2.2% and 2.8%, silicon content between 1.0% and 1.8%, manganese content between 0.3% and 0.8%, sulfur content not exceeding 0.2%, and phosphorus content not exceeding 0.2%. More than 0.1%.

1.2. Two Main Types Of Structures Of Malleable Cast Iron

one is the combination of ferrite and flocculent graphite (referred to as F+G), and the other is the combination of pearlite and flocculent graphite (referred to as P+G).

1.3.Malleable Iron Has A Variety Of Notable Features:

1.3.1. Compared with other casting materials, malleable steel has the advantages of high strength, high toughness, high wear resistance, and high-temperature performance, making it perform well in applications.

1.3.2.Malleable Iron connection is sturdy and durable, has good structure, can ensure a reliable connection, and is suitable for a variety of engineering environments.

1.3.3.Malleable Iron has excellent cost performance. It not only has high performance characteristics but also has obvious advantages in economic cost.

Common Malleable Iron Grades

1. 42CrMo4: This commonly used martensitic steel has the characteristics of high strength, high wear resistance, and high toughness, and is often used to manufacture various mechanical parts and tools. Its specific chemical composition includes 0.38% to 0.45% carbon, 0.60% to 0.90% chromium, 0.15% to 0.30% molybdenum and other elements.

2. 20CrMnTi: This is low-alloy martensitic steel with good corrosion resistance and fatigue resistance. It is often used to manufacture parts such as gears, friction plates, and transmission shafts. Its specific chemical composition includes 0.17% to 0.23% carbon, 1.00% to 1.30% manganese, 0.80% to 1.10% chromium and other elements.

3. 30CrNiMo8: This is a commonly used high-strength martensitic steel with high toughness and anti-wear properties. It is often used to manufacture large mechanical parts and tools. Its specific chemical composition includes 0.26% to 0.34% carbon, 0.90% to 1.20% manganese, 0.80% to 1.10% nickel and other elements.
